Rhode Island School of Design

U.S. News & World Report ranked RISD first amongst Fine Arts programs, above Yale University, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  In 2019 RISD was ranked 4th by the QS World University Rankings amongst Art & Design programs. Its undergraduate architecture program ranked 6 in DesignIntelligence's ranking of the Top Architecture Schools in the US for 2019.

Carnegie Mellon University is well known for its design & architecture courses, based on world-class computer technology.

In a survey conducted by the National Arts Journalism Program at Columbia University, SAIC was named the “most influential art school” by art critics at general interest news publications from across the United States.

In 2017, U.S. News & World Report's college rankings ranked SAIC the fourth-best overall graduate program for fine arts in the U.S. tied with the Rhode Island School of Design.

New York University

The New York University Tisch School of the Arts was founded on August 17, 1965, Tisch is a training ground for artists, scholars of the arts, and filmmakers; the school merges the technical training of a professional school with the academic resources of a major research university to immerse students in their intended artistic disciplines. 

In 2017, NYU opened a new technology hub called Media and Games Network (MAGNET) located at 2 MetroTech Center that houses three Tisch programs: the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, the Interactive Telecommunications/Interactive Media Arts programs (ITP & IMA), and the Center for Game Design.

Parsons School of Design

Parsons School of Design is a private art and design college located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan in New York City.

It is one of the five colleges of The New School.

The school was founded in 1896 by William Merritt Chase in search of individualistic artistic expression

It was the first of its kind in the country to offer programs in fashion designadvertisinginterior design, and graphic design.

The school offers numerous undergraduate and graduate programs, ranging from architectural designcuratorial studies, to textiles and design and urban ecologies. In addition, Parsons is known for its alumni, which consists of numerous famous fashion designers, photographers, designers, illustrators, and artists alike that have made large contributions to their respective industries.

School of Visual Art / SVA

Founded in 1947, SVA is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design.

PayScale included the college in its "Top 10 Art & Design Schools by Salary Potential" list for 2013–2014. It is ranked 18th among the art graduate schools in U.S. News & World Report, with its MFA Photography, Video and Related Media program ranked the fifth MFA photography program in the country.

Pratt Institue

Many of Pratt's programs have been ranked in the top-5 by

U.S. News & World Report including the interior design

and industrial design programs. The Bachelor of Architecture program has been ranked as being in the top fifteen programs in the United States consistently since 2000. Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranked the school as

being one of the top 60 schools in the world to study design while Business Insider said that the school is the 6th best school for design in the world, above Cooper Union and New York University.

Art Center College of Design

 

Art Center College of Design located in Pasadena, California.

The college's undergraduate and graduate industrial design programs are consistently ranked number one by DesignIntelligence. 

U.S. News and World Report also ranks Art Center's Art, Industrial Design and Media Design Practices programs among the top 20 graduate schools in the U.S. Most recently, the growing influence of Art Center's Film programs resulted in the college's ranking among The Hollywood Reporter's list of the Top 25 Global Film Schools.

In 2014, Money magazine ranked Art Center third on its list of 25 of the best college values and in 2013, Coroflot's 2013 Creative Employment Snapshot respondents showed Art Center alumni earning more compared to peer institutions.

Fashion Institute of Technology

 

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is a public college in ManhattanNew York City. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) and focuses on artbusinessdesignmass communication, and technology connected to the fashion industry. It was founded in 1944.

Well-known alumni of the school include the fashion designers Norma KamaliCalvin KleinMichael Kors (who did not complete his studies there.

The New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology has been named the best fashion school in the world for 2019 by the CEOWORLD magazine

Emily Carr University of Art & Design

Emily Carr is one of the oldest post-secondary institutions in British Columbia and the only one that is dedicated to professional education and learning in the arts, media, and design.

On April 28th, 2008, the Provincial Government announced that it would amend the University Act at the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and recognize Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design as a full university, which would be named Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Emily Carr specializes in sustainable design, photography, new media, visual arts, media, interactive media, animation, industrial design, product design, ceramics, sculpture, communication design, Illustration and fine arts.

Maryland Institute College of Art

The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is a private art and design college in BaltimoreMaryland. It was founded in 1826 as the Maryland Institute for the Promotion of the Mechanic Arts, making it one of the oldest art colleges in the United States.

Maryland Institute College of Art’s Design program was ranked #3 and this puts the school’s program

in the Top 1% of all Design programs

Otis College of Art & Design

Otis College of Art and Design is a private art and design school in Los AngelesCalifornia. Established in 1918, it was the city's first independent professional school of art.

The school's programs, accredited by WASC and National Association of Schools of Art and Design, include four-year BFA degrees in illustrationfine artsgraphic designarchitecturelandscape designinterior designfashion designdigital mediatoy design, and product design.

The Economist ranked Otis College of Art and Design 6th among national universities in its 2015 ranking of the U.S. best colleges for 'Value of Education' based on sophisticated evaluation method and by alumni earnings above expectation.[8] Money Magazine ranked Otis fourth for

Ontario College of Art & Design

Founded in 1876, OCAD U is dedicated to art and

Sheridan College

In 1984, Sheridan student Jon Minnis created the short animation piece 

Charade. The five-minute film was animated by Minnis with Pantone markers

on paper during a single three-month summer term at Sheridan College.

The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 57th

Academy Awards.

As Sheridan's animation department continued to grow, it produced hundreds

of animators into Canadian and international studios, at one point in 1996 being

called "the Harvard of animation schools" on "a worldwide basis" by animator

Michael Hirsh. A significant number of graduates

have held key positions at Walt Disney Animation StudiosDon Bluth Productions

Pixar Animation Studios, and DreamWorks Animation, both for traditional and 

CGI animation. Sheridan graduates include five Academy Award nominees

and two winners, and in 2005, an animation professor Kaj Pindal won

an Emmy Award.

Sheridan has been ranked No 1 animation school in the world by

Animation Career Review's 2019.
